The Product
Yatzy Online is a dice game based on poker and the player may choose from 3 variations - 5 Dice International, 5 Dice Scandinavian and 6 Dice International. It can be played online with friends on Facebook or with random players.
The Project
Yatzy Online is an internal enterprise game and my role was to redesign the game and make it look fresh and modern as the previous version was developed back in 2010.
The deliverables were a new logo and new interface of the game.
Insights & Problems
Outdated design
The game was initially designed back in 2010 and a new look was crucial to attract new clients and increase number of downloads.
No dopamine effect
Large number of never returning users, because of lack of dopamine elements.
However, we worked carefully with the dopamine effect features and included also turn on and off features to remind the user to rest.
Solution
New modern design
Changed the background and overall style and branding of the game. Completely redesigned the game board from UX perspective to keep users focused on the game and make it less complicated.
New competitive features
Added online leaderboards and badges to make users more competitive.
